Simple open-cycle “explosion-proof motor only” lines are not suitable for sulfur and are excluded.

- Target particle size (largest impact)
Finer powder drastically reduces effective capacity; you need a larger model to maintain throughput, raising investment.
- D97 >10 μm → lower cost
- D97 <5 μm → requires jet mill, 60%~120% higher CAPEX than ACM for same hourly output
- Purity requirement
- Standard steel construction: baseline price
- Ceramic-lined grinding chamber, classifier wheel, pipelines: +25% ~ +60% cost
- Automation grade
- Basic PLC + fixed recipes: base price

3. What you should watch out for (common commercial traps)
- Quotation only lists the grinding host, excluding nitrogen circulation, cooling, feeders and safety interlocks — final total investment surges later.
- Sellers quote capacity at coarse D97; when you run ultrafine sulfur, actual throughput drops by 50% or more.
- “Explosion-proof” only means explosion-proof motor; no closed nitrogen inert system. This configuration is unsafe for sulfur and cannot eliminate explosion risk fundamentally.
- Separate costs for installation, commissioning, spare parts, training not written into contract.
